Dreaded Workdays

Today I do not feel like going to work. At all. I'd rather be at the pool or laying by the beach...wouldn't we all! Sigh, c'est la vie. This morning for breakfast I made a smoothie in a bowl with my new protein powder! The kind I usually use is Jay Robb's All Natural Protein Isolate, but I replaced it with raw and vegan Sun Warrior Protein. I just tried it for the first time this morning and it is so good!! Its super expensive, but super worth it.

In the mix:
1 scoop Sun Warrior
2 tbs. of peanut flour
half a banana
5 ice subes
Kashi GoLean on top

I'm off the catch the train, I have to scurry! Have a fabulous day.

Weekend Fun

I'm going to apologize for the long post, but I unplugged all weeked so there is a ton to recap! On Thursday night, all of Bridget's cousins came into town for Katherine's graduation party, so all weekend we did fun things with them. First, we went to the batting cages and played putt putt with the whole clan.
I was horrible at batting!

I actually scored a 40 and made a hole in one! Woohoo. Shortl after we got back, I went downstairs to the basement and did workout #2 of Fitnessista's Summer Shape Up. It can be found here. I was sweaty by the time I was finished and Bridget's cousin, Evan even managed to secretly snap a photo.

Pumpin' iron
I was too busy to capture most of my eats of the weekend, but I did manage to capture some great photos of the party.

There was a spread on the table of all of Katherines accomplishments. Go Kath!

One of my good friends John even stopped by to say hello!

The food at the party was incredible. The McCarthy's homemade everything they served and all of it was so good. I did not snap a photo of the whole spread, but I did snap some photos of the desserts. Katherine made the cupcakes and I made the cookies! Both were a hit.

Seven Layer Cake

Overall, it was a great party! I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Katherine got a lot of nice presents including tons of money. If any of you are curious, Katherine will be attending Providence College next year.

McCarthy children: Robert, Bridget, Ellen, and Katherine

Overall, the weekend was really fun. I also enjoyed lots of great food, maybe even a little too much. Today we went to Church, relaxed, cleaned up from the party, and hung around the house. I went for a four mile run and now I am relaxing watching the USA pageant. Tomorrow starts another week, here we go! I hope all of you had a great weekend and Father's Day. Have a great rest of the night <3.

Dedicated to Katy Perry

Breakfast this morning was the same as yesterday. Peanut butter and banana sandwich thin with cinnamon.

Enough on breakfast. Last night's dinner is also not important because Katy Perry is so much more important. Last night I went to see the Katy Perry California Dreams Tour. It was a last minute decision so I didn't know what to expect, even though I do love her.

Well...It surpassed any expectation I ever had!! It was AMAZING. I cannot begin to tell you. The whole time I felt like I was at a Broadway musical. It was as if I was watching a show and a bunch of actors. Everything from the set, to the costumes, to the background dancers (they were awesome), to the lights were insane. I always knew she has a good voice, but now I know that she is truly talented and her voice is really beautiful. I really wish I had pictures to show you from last night, but when I got there the camera died! My luck.

She was also really interactive with her audience and talked a lot, which I really liked. She started with Teenage Dream and ended with California Gurls, in which she through beach balls into the audience and also used a hose to douse the first couple rows. It was so much fun! She sang all of her most beloved songs and I think everyone was impressed. She is gorgeous and her voice is unbelievable. She just seems like a truly happy person.

I'm still smiling just thinking about it! Best concert I have ever been to by far. Anyway, I have a very busy day today due to Katherine's graduation party and there is a lot to be done! I must unplug and go help set up. Catch ya later for lunch, if not, then later tonight for a recap of the party!

DC Cupcake Sisters

This morning I woke up craving peanut butter. What's new. So I made myself a sandwich thin with peanut butter and banana slices. I topped my sandwich thin with cinnamon as well. It was very delicious.

After breakfast we had baking to do! Katherine's graduation party is tomorrow and we had to bake dozens of chocolate chip cookies. We made them bite size and they turned out really well. Also on the menu includes, marinated flank steak, grilled chicken, tortellini salad, fruit, cauliflower, ham, and macaroni and peas.

The whole time we were baking we kept calling ourselves the DC Cupcake Sisters.  I always find them a bit annoying, but funny at the same time. They are the bakers for Georgetown Cupcake, one of the most famous bakeries in DC. Have any of you seen the show or had one of their well-known cupcakes?

DC Cupcake Sisters
I'm off to hang with the fam more. We may go bike riding later and tonight I'm going to the Katy Perry concert, I'm pumped! I've never seen her perform live before so I'm interested in seeing how she does. I'm sure she is fantastic. See you for dinner!

One Heck of A Day

Today has been one longgg day. I took an 11 am train into the city to finalize my move out. When I got there I asked the man, "What do I have to do to move out?" He replied, "First move all your things out of the room and once that is finished we will continue from there." I replied back ands said, "Oh, I already moved everything out, I'm all set to go." He replied, "Wow! Okay, lets go then." I was thrilled to say the least. We went up to my room for one last time to check and see if their were any damages. I knew there were, but he walked in for one second and said, "Your good." Yay Mom and Dad! No charges for damages.

After that was finished I met up with one of my best friends, Danielle, for lunch in the park. We hit up Whole Foods and both made our own salads. I filled my box with a couple roasted sweet potatoes, a huge pile of arugula for the base, carrots, onions, several peanuts, lemon baked tofu, shredded zucchini, wheatberries,  chickpeas, and a dollop of hummus. All dressed with apple cider vinegar and balsamic vinegar. YUM.

We walked through Columbus Circle..

...and ate lunch in Central Park. My favorite park ever.

Eatin' lunch on the rock
With lunch I also enjoyed a Zevia, a natural zero calorie soda. Great option for soda lovers like me who don't want to ingest tons of aspartame.

After lunch, I said by to Danielle :( Miss you Dani!

And it was just me, myself, and I going to take care of the large boxes.

It took a lot of effort and the mail room at Fordham is not a Post Office, it's only a package pick up place. SO I had to borrow a cart and roll two twenty pound boxes to the nearest Post Office. It was difficult to say the least, AND the people working there were beyond rude. This is where I roll my eyes at New Yorkers. Ugh.

I finally arrived back on Long Island where I hung out with Bridget's family for a few hours. I snacked on a ton of carrots and my favorite peanut butter ever, Peanut Butter and Co.'s Cinnamon Raisin Swirl. This stuff is seriously dangerous, but I can't help but purchase it every time I'm at the store!

I didn't really eat a proper dinner because I snacked so much when I got home from the city. I had a full belly. After playing some basketball I wanted to go for a run, so Katherine (Bridget's sister) and I set out to run three miles. We ended up going a little further.

Woohoo! Felt so good. Now I'm back at the house relaxing. I just enjoyed a bowl of Cookie Dough Cereal and an apple and I am now sufficiently full! I'm currently watching Baby Mama, which I've never seen before. They all say its hilarious, but I'll let y'all know after I watch it. Good night, I'll catch ya tomorrow!

Cookie Dough Cereal

This morning for breakfast I woke up and wanted to try something new. I went to my bookmarked breakfast recipes and decided on Fitnesissta's cookie dough cereal. I combined 1 scoop of protein powder, 1/3 cup of oats, two dashes of cinnamon, a dash of vanilla, and pinch of sea salt.

Then combine all above ingredients. Add 1-2 tbsp. of your favorite nut butter and combine until it has the texture of cookie dough. Add 1 cup of your favorite milk and enjoy! Add your favorite topping such as banana<-- this is what I used, cocoa nibs, dried fruit, sliced almonds etc.

This recipe turned out to be fantastic. It was so delicious and doughy.

I'm off to go to the city and have lunch with my friend Danielle. Whole Foods here I come!! I'm so sick of commuting to the city after three days, but I have some unfinished business that needs to be taken care of. Have a fabulous day :)

Toddlers and Tiaras

I'm currently posted up on the couch watching Toddlers and Tiaras. I can't believe what those mothers make their children do! No, your kids do not want to be dressed up with veneers, fake hair, spray tans, and 3,000 dollar outfits. YOU, the moms want your kids to do this more than anything! It makes me sad!

Anyways, when I got home from work I had a bunch of this...

carrots with hummus and peanut butter (not together)

Dinner tonight was chicken again, but this time prepared on the grill. We also made zucchini by drizzling a little olive oil, and salt and pepper. I had my usual side salad as well. Chicken with sweet barbecue sauce!

I went back for another small piece of chicken. After dinner, I decided I wanted to take a yoga class at 7:30. I haven't done yoga in forever, and lately I've been so sore and tight, so it was just what I needed. The class was okay, but the instructed was russian and could pronounce any of her words, a little distracting, but I'm glad I went.

I'm still posted up watching this ridiculous show, then I'm off to shower and hit the hay. I am tired! Tomorrow I have to go into the city again to do a couple things. I'll be back with a recap tomorrow afternoon. Have a great night <3
